Work Experience – Ships Catering

We offer catering work experience placements on board our vessels. The placements last for two weeks and include first-hand experience of every aspect of the ships catering department. Deck Rating

Applications are invited from those who have a STCW95 Navigational Watch Rating certificate and valid STCW95 First Aid and Firefighting Certificates. Recent relevant sea-going experience and, ideally, you should be in possession of a current AB certificate.

2nd Officer

Those with a valid MCA STCW ’95 Reg. II/2 Chief Officer Unlimited Certificate are preferred, but a lesser deck officer qualification with the relevant experience will also be considered. Good Seamanship and Navigation Skills are essential, together with a working knowledge of statute and regulations.

Minimum qualification is a valid Ships’ Cooks Certificate. The successful candidate will require a valid MCA Medical Certificate (ENG 1) and in addition, a minimum of 2 years experience as ships cook is preferred.

2nd Engineer (Temporary)

Minimum qualification is a valid STCW95 Chief Engineer’s Motor Certificate of Competency, Class III/2 or Chief Engineer’s III/3 with endorsement up to 6000 kW. This is due to the requirement to deputise for the Chief Engineer on occasion.
