In May this year, filmmaker Chris McMillan from Tern TV spent a month filming our teams as they went about their work maintaining lighthouses round the coasts of Scotland and the Isle of Man.

The documentary follows ship’s crew, engineers and technicians.

For some of our team featured it’s been a life’s work, including ship’s Bosun Calum whose father worked on the lighthouses and who has now been followed by his son Jack, as the third generation, in the ‘lighthouse business’.

The film is part of the BBC1 series Our Lives and offers a rare insight into the working world of the Northern Lighthouse Board.

The episode will be broadcast in October but is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m00225h0/our-lives-series-8-8-the-secret-lives-of-lighthouse-keepers
