Mike Kane MP, Minister for Aviation, Maritime and Security visited the Northern Lighthouse Board’s Oban Base and Corran Point Lighthouse on 25 July 2025.

The Minister also went onboard NLB’s vessel PHAROS where he met the Master and crew and found out more about our vital work to keep mariners and the environment safe around the coasts of Scotland and the Isle of Man.

Corran Point Lighthouse

Corran Point Lighthouse is situated at Corran Point on the west side of the Narrows of Loch Linnhe, in Lochaber, Highland. The lighthouse was built in 1860 by Thomas and David Stevenson and was constructed to help vessels navigate the Corran Narrows on Loch Linnhe.  It was one of the first lighthouses in Britain to become automatic in 1898, approximately 10 years before any lighthouses in England.
