Aberdeen based cancer charity Clan Cancer Support will be lighting up the north of Scotland this Autumn with an art sculpture trail. The sculpture trail will draw people to explore communities across the north-east and the northern isles to see 50 2.5m tall lighthouses designed by some of the UK’s most talented artists.
The trail started on 9th August and will run for ten weeks. As well as the larger sculptures it also features 76 smaller lighthouses designed by schools and community groups. At the end of the trail, the 50 large lighthouses will be displayed and auctioned off on 1st November to raise funds for the charity.
NLB is involved as a Partner in Kind and has sponsored a lighthouse outside the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses. NLB has also been partnered with Clunie Primary School and will support the educational side of the project.
Light the North will shine a light across the north-east and Northern Isles helping to spread awareness and funds for Clan’s professional cancer support services. You can keep up to date with the trail and find out more by visiting www.lightthenorth.co.uk
