Climate change is our biggest challenge and reducing our impact on the planet is at the heart of everything we do. The risks posed by rising sea levels, flood risk and more unstable weather patterns are very real challenges for us.
Since our formation in 1786 NLB’s engineers have been applying innovation, skill and perseverance to overcome the elements and provide a reliable system of Aids to Navigation around the remote and rugged coastlines of Scotland and the Isle of Man.
From the Chair of our Board of Commissioners to the Technician Apprentices embarking on their engineering careers, we are all absolutely committed to do what is right and to play a full part in making sure that our successors are able to continue to deliver this vital service which keeps Mariners and the Environment safe from harm, for the Safety of All.
What we decide to do now will be a legacy that NLB’s engineers, some of whom have yet to be born, will inherit in the coming decades. In brief we need to get this right.
In December we published our 4th Adaptation for Climate Change Progress Report. The report looks at our plans and progress for adapting to climate change.
