The
nerve centre of the organisation, reaching from Muckle
Flugga in Shetland to Chicken Rock off the Isle of
Man, lies behind the Georgian frontage of 84 George
Street, Edinburgh. There, under the Chief Executive,
the staff fall into four sections:
The
Chief Executive controls Human Resources, Quality,
Health & Safety and Environmental, the Secretary
to the Board and Public Relations,
The Director of Finance controls Administration, Finance, Information Technology
and Commercial;
The Director of Engineering, Engineering, Design, Maintenance and Support;
The Director of Marine Operations, Ship and Helicopter operations and all navigational
and business development matters.
Also in Edinburgh are the Workshops, equipped to service all lighthouse machinery.
More importantly, Edinburgh provides the Monitor Centre, from which the operational
parameters of automated major and minor lighthouses are monitored by land-line
and radio link night and day throughout the year.
