RE-ESTABLISHMENT OF LIGHT AND OF RADAR BEACON (RACON) SERVICE AND ESTABLISHMENT OF AIS TRANSMISSIONS
Notice is given that, with reference to NOTICE TO MARINERS NO 14 OF 2008 (DATED 23 MAY 2008), and with immediate effect, the range of the light at this East Cardinal buoy station has been restored to 9 Miles and the X/S Band racon service has been re-established.
Mariners are also advised that, with immediate effect, AIS is being transmitted as an Aid to Navigation (AtoN) from this buoy station. When observed on the Minimum Keyboard Display (MKD), the minimum carriage requirement for SOLAS vessels, the mariner will see:

Mariners using certain Radar and Electronic Chart Displays may see a symbol on the display and, on interrogation, the above information and bearing & distance from the observer will be available. If displayed, the screen symbol for an AIS AtoN is a diamond shape. Mariners are referred to NOTICE TO MARINERS NO 19 OF 2008 (DATED 1 OCTOBER 2008), for further information. Currently there is a variance on information that will be displayed by different manufacturers’ Electronic Chart and Radar equipment. The transmission from this station is repeated every 10 minutes and includes the AtoN Identifier Message AtoN type: Cardinal Mark E. |
