Northern Lighthouse Board has an ongoing programme of testing AIS equipment to be deployed on Aids to Navigation at their base in Oban.   Mariners are advised that transmissions from various units under test may be received in Oban Bay and the surrounding area, and such transmissions may not accurately reflect the location of genuine Aids to Navigation.

The broadcast name of such transmissions will normally be prefaced by the word ‘Test’.
