RE-ESTABLISHMENT OF PERMANENT LIGHT,
ESTABLISHMENT OF RADAR BEACON (RACON) SERVICE
& ALTERATION OF APPEARANCE OF TOWER

 

With reference to NOTICE TO MARINERS NO 45 OF 2005 (DATED 5 SEPTEMBER 2005), notice is given that, on or about 25 FEBRUARY 2006, the temporary light will be discontinued and a permanent light will be re-established, a racon service established and the tower appearance altered to the undernoted characteristics:

Character: Flashing White every 2 seconds (as before)
Elevation Above MHWS: 19 Meters (as before)
Nominal Ranges: 11 Miles
Location: White Tower, Red Vertical Stripes
Racon Transmission Characteristics:
Frequency: X Band = 9300 MHz – 9500 MHz
S Band = 2900 MHz – 3100 MHz
Duty Cycle: Simultaneously active on both X and S bands for 20 seconds in every minute
Nominal Range: X Band - 13 Miles
S Band - 11 Miles
Code: T
Code Response Length: 2 Miles Nominal



This Notice to Mariners is part of NLB 5 Yearly AtoN review process which has recommended this alteration to character and is incorporated in the recently issued 2020 Vision document outlining the future strategy for provision of Aids to navigation throughout UK and the Republic of Ireland.
