RE-ESTABLISHMENT OF S BAND RADAR BEACON (RACON) SERVICE

 

With reference to NOTICE TO MARINERS NO 9 OF 2006  (DATED 16 MARCH 2006), notice is given that, with immediate effect, the radar beacon (racon) at this station has been re-established as an X/S Band racon, with S Band emissions restricted to landward, and the undernoted characteristics:

 Frequency :

X Band = 9300 MHz – 9500 MHz (as before)
S Band = 2900 MHz – 3100 MHz
Duty Cycle : Simultaneously active on both X and S bands for 20 seconds in every minute
Nominal Range :   

X Band - 13 Miles (as before)
S Band - 11 Miles
Arc of emission :   

X Band – all round (as before)
S Band – 315 ° - 245 °  (290 °) (approx.)
