Achievement
of ISO9001:2000
The
Northern Lighthouse Board is pleased to announce its recent certification
to ISO9001:2000 standard. This is an internationally accepted standard
describing best practice for Business Management Systems.
Our
transition audit (from ISO 9001:1994 to ISO9001:2000) took place
over 3 days 28 - 30 Oct 2003 and, unlike a significant number of
other organisations, was successful at the first attempt. This
was carried out by a specialist team from Det Norske Veritas (DNV).
DNV
are one of the leading world-wide Certification bodies (over 45,000
certificates issued world-wide) and are United Kingdom Accreditation
Service (UKAS) accredited. DNV has its headquarters in OSLO and
is recognised internationally for its maritime expertise.
Certification
to the standard shows that the Northern Lighthouse Board, at all
levels, has accepted an undertaking to measure and continually
improve business processes leading to improved efficiency and effectiveness.
The
standard commits us to maintain a customer focus, both within the
organisation and externally and to strive to understand and respond
to customers’ needs and expectations.
