With the kind assistance of the Sanday Ranger and the Sanday Development Trust Start Point Lighthouse is open on a limited number of days during the summer. The lighthouse, which is unique with its black & white stripes, is situated on the tidal island of Start Point on Sanday's exposed eastern tip.
Start Point Lighthouse tours for 2017: Sunday 23rd April – 1.30pm Saturday 27th May – 4.30pm Saturday 24th June – 3.30pm Saturday 1st July – 9.30am Sunday 6th August – 2.30pm Saturday 9th September – 5pm Sunday 15th October – 12noon

Binoculars would be useful and wellies are essential! More information about the island of Sanday at www.sandayranger.org
Please note this tour is not suitable for anyone suffering from heart, breathing or balance difficulties and that children under 1m in height will not be allowed access, this includes carried children. On days when essential maintenance is taking place the lighthouse will be closed to visitors. Note: There will be a small charge for these tours to cover costs.
